The locomotive G ¾ of the Königlich Bayerischen Staatsbahn were built between 1919 and 1923. In comparison with the older G ¾ N it was noticeable that it had a hot steam motor bogie, the drinking water pre heater, the larger and higher boiler and the reintroduced Adams axle. At the DRG the locomotive with the axle sequence 1'C ws classified as BR 54.15-17 and was the most powerful steam locomotive in Europe. However, it was more economical than its predecessors. All of the 225 built units were taken over from the DRG and were reclassified with the operation number 54 1501-1725. Most of the locomotives were still intact after WWII. Despite that they were designed for goods transportation, the machines were also used in front of passenger trains. The last units were operated by the Bw Nuremberg Rfb.
