Prototype: The Sd. Kfz. (Sonderkraftfahrzeug, or special purpose vehicle) 221, 222, and 223 were four-wheel-drive Leichter PanzerspƤhwagen, or light armored reconnaissance vehicles, produced for the Wehrmacht beginning in 1935. All versions were powered by a rear-mounted V8 engine and armed with a MG 13 or MG 34 machine gun. The Sd Kfz 221 was the first version of the armored car but was replaced beginning in 1940 by the 222 which was better protected and was armed with a 2 cm KwK 30 L/55 or KwK 38 L/55 cannon. The Sd Kfz 223 was a 221 armored car mounted with radio antenna frame. These light armored cars were designed primarily for reconnaissance duties on the roads and flat terrain of Central and Western Europe. Their off-road performance in the Soviet Union and North Africa was relatively poor and they were later replaced in the reconnaissance role by half-tracks.
PLEASE NOTE: These models are all handmade and painted which makes every one unique. This means the paint patterns may vary a little and the detail parts like sandbags, turret tracks, antennas, etc. may also be arranged differently. This was also the case in real life. These models are very prototypical.
